John G. Schmid, 69 of Spotsylvania County passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 9, 1940, to the late John and Mary Schmid.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joanne; his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Eric and daughter-in-law Hope; his grandchildren Madeline, Olivia and John Thompson; and countless caring friends. He will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives he touched with his smile, easy-going spirit and love of life.
He lived 35 years in the Chicago area where he had a successful career in medical sales, then moved to Virginia where he enjoyed his retirement.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, Va. 22551.
