Obituary

John Charles Von Ancken, 72, of Locust Grove, passed away Saturday April 8, 2006 at the Beverly Health Care, Fredericksburg.
Mr. Von Ancken was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving as a pilot in the Korean War. He graduated from college with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for some 30 years. During that time he worked with a team building radar systems in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world. After the FAA, he went to work as a project leader for MTS Technologies. He was a very avid sports spectator and a die-hard Redskins fan.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Susan W. Von Ancken; his mother, Agnes Rose Von Ancken of Hillsdale, NY; his son and his wife, Curtis Von Ancken and Angie of Falls Church, VA; his step-sons, Jack Carsrud of New Braunfels TX, and John Carsrud of Canton, TX; his brother and his wife, Billy Charles Von Ancken and Jean of Hillsdale, NY; his sister and her husband, Rosemary Lueken and Eddie of Hyde Park, NY; three grandchildren Colin, Crystal and Tyler Carsrud of Houston, TX. He is also survived by former daughters-in-law Mikiko Shikano of Tokyo, Japan and Mona Carsrud of Houston, TX.
A celebration of Mr. Von Ancken's life will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday April 18, 2006 at Lake of the Woods Church. Pastor Tom Schafer will officiate. Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, is handling arrangements.
