John "Jack" Andrew Walker, Jr (80) of Locust Grove, Virginia passed away in his home with family by his side on December 30, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Washington, DC on September 5, 1938 to John and Helen Walker.  He attended high school at St. John's College High School and studied engineering as a proud member of the University of Notre Dame's Class of 1960.  He received a master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School and served 20 years in the United States Navy retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He married Carol Walker in 1962, raised five children and cared for Carol prior to her passing in 2000.  He married his second wife Kathleen in 2004 and they have had a wonderful retirement together full of travel, friends and family.

Jack had a zest for life and a great sense of humor.   His passions included Notre Dame, golf, playing bridge with Kathleen and friends, his Catholic faith, and the Navy.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lake of the Woods Veterans Group, Cursillo, and a volunteer for So Others Might Eat (SOME) senior adult camp.  Jack never met a stranger and loved to share stories with anyone and everyone. He faced his cancer diagnosis with optimism and bravery. He never complained about his illness and faced each day with determination and hopefulness.

He is predeceased by his parents, John Andrew and Helen Walker, his first wife, Carol Walker, and his sister, Patricia Crocker.  He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Walker, sister, Mary (Paul) Parenteau of Massachusetts, sons, Andy (Kathy) Walker of Virginia, Dwayne (Dawn) Walker of Virginia, Scott (Claire) Walker, Wade and Eddie Lewis of Virginia, his daughters, Theresa (Jeff) Headley of Virginia, Deb (Mike) Julian of North Carolina, Andrea (Mark) D'Ambra of Pennsylvania, his grandchildren, Becky, Drew (Ana), Calvin, Bridget, Alex (Ginifer), Aaron (Amelia), Isabela, Julia, Charlie, Helen, Ben, Ariana, Kelson, Morgan, Evan, Bryndal, Grant and his great grandchildren Aubrey and Ferris.
