John Alexander Young, 73, of Fredericksburg, passed away at home, surrounded by his wife and children, Sunday May, 10, 2015. John was born on November 6, 1941 to Arthor Gordon and Agnes Evelyn (Shakelford) Young, in Fredericksburg. He started working at the young age of 12 in grocery stores He then became a manager with Flower's Bread Company for over 30 years. In 1988 he went to work at Radley Automotive Group, where he continued for another 25 years. He married Bertha Brent on April 2, 1983 in Fredericksburg. One thing the family had to say, was you always knew where John was, because he was always whistling.
Surviviors include his wife; Bertha,; 4 sons; Kevin Young, Cecil "Macky" (Billie Jo) Newcomb, Scotty Brooks, Jason Thompson; 2 daughters: Evelyn Thompson, Crystal Young; Brother; Nicky Young; sister: Joyce MacManama, and 7 grandchildren: Jordan Marszycki, Cameron Garcia, Christian Garcia, Roy Cochran, Jr, Hanna Smith, Alexandra Young, Laurel Brooks, Alison Newcomb and Samatha Miller.
Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Memorial Park on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 1p.m.
