Jon Lawrence Mason, 78 of Woodford, passed away at Spotsylvania Hospital on Tuesday October 9, 2018 with his loving family at his bedside.  Jon was born on October 18, 1939 to Melvin Jennings and Patricia Edna (Hicks) Mason in Alcoa, TN.  Jon joined the Army out of high school, serving for over 6 years attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.  He married Sharon Ann Galan on September 2, 1995 in Spotsylvania.  Jon worked at Ft. Belvoir for 29 years, retiring as Project Supervisor for Dyncorp.  He and Sharon moved to Woodford in 1997.  Jon enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, cars and just being active.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Diane Rogers (Lenny), Sharon Bush (Wallace); step-son, Chad Thompson (Toni), three step-daughters, Jennifer Ann Aquino, Melissa Sue Barnes, Cathy Agosto; two brothers Mike and Pete Mason (Marion), Sister Shirley Law (Henry); 12 grandchildren, Daryl Colbert, Robert Galan, Andrew Galan, Alex Aquino, Joseph Aquino, Keeth Waller, Misty Galan, Sofia Thompson, Brian Bush, Matthew Bush, Jennifer Bush, Hope, Agosto; and 2 great grandchildren, Logan McBride and Lyric Straus.  A Celebration of Jon's Life will be held on Sunday October 14, 2018 at the Soup & Taco II 806 William St. Fredericksburg from 4 pm to 7 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society at www.donate3.cancer.org, Alzheimer's Society, www.alz.org, or any Veterans Organization.
