IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph T.
Fleming
September 2, 1939 – November 27, 2019
Joe (JT) Fleming, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov 27,2019. Joe was born on September 2, 1939 in Washington D.C. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Jane Hopkins; father, Richard Paul Fleming; sisters and brothers Linda Mullins, Sonny Fleming (Richard Paul Jr), David Fleming, Donny Fleming, Sylvester Cullen, Mary Lou Gardner; and his brother-in-law Gene Gardner, whom he loved like a father. He is survived by his beloved bride Marilyn (Bonnie); their three daughters, Bonnie Jeannine (Brat), Kristen Yensenna (Mouth of the south), and Mary Jo; their 9 grandchildren (Joe, Austin, Cheralyn, Chance, Brittney, Killian, Quinn, Joleen, and Myra); and his cherished Mother-in-Law, Marian R. Hoovler (That Girl). He is also survived by his sister, Helen Kay Roberts; and many nieces and nephews. He left some big shoes to fill. He was the guy to stop and help a stranger on the road. He loved to share a beer and enjoy a friend. He cared about people and he was willing to help anyone out if he could- his shirt was yours for the asking, so long as you were "good people". He had a whistle you could hear 1/4 mile away... "dinner time!", and some excellent hand signal skills he enjoyed showing off whenever you tried to take a picture of him- Or, if you happened to be my uncle driving by, there was a whole conversation with said signals. He was a tough old rascal, and he was a gentleman. He was dedicated, hard-working, thoughtful, and kind. He was a visionary with an inspiring sense of self determination and drive. He was proud of his wife, he was proud of his children, and we are proud of him. He served briefly in the Marine Corps, without a doubt one of a few good men. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home at 1PM on Monday Dec 9, 2019. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (alzdiscovery.org) or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
