Joseph John Bezek
Joseph John Bezek, 76, of Lake of the Woods, formerly of Brownstown, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at INOVA, Fairfax Hospital.
Mr. Bezek was a graduate from Ferndale High School in Brownstown and a graduate of St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, where he played football for both schools. He was a retired high school English teacher and football coach at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD. He was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Bezek was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Brenden Council in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth A. Bezek; three daughters, Joanna Bezek of Locust Grove, Nancy E. Piekarski and her husband Chuck, of Ashburn, and Carol A. Hensley and her husband James, of Leesburg. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Dutko Bezek of Johnstown, PA; two sisters, Dorothy McCabe of Johnstown, and Evelyn Szala of York, PA; and four grandchildren, Laura and Sarah Piekarski, J.J. and Patrick Hensley.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 8, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Laurel Hill Funeral Home in Spotsylvania and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the departure for church.
