Joseph Rudolph Day Jr., resident of Locust Grove VA, was called to the Lord unexpectedly on December 4, 2014 at the age of 51 in Spotsylvania VA. Joseph Rudolph Day Jr. was co-owner of Automart Wholesale with his cousins Michael Brown from New Jersey.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Joseph Rudolph Day Sr. (Bessie) and Martha Toliver-Mitchell (Otis Sr.); his wife, Alfreda Maria (Johnson); his children, Joseph Dawan and Tyrese Wali Day; Sisters, Brandi Mitchell (Otis Jr.) and Veronica Fate (Timothy); his Brother, Otis Mitchell Jr. (Brandi); a host of Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins; his God Children, Erica, Aaliyah and Destiny; and a host of Family and Friends. He is predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents, Clodies F. and Willie Lee Wilson; his Paternal Grandparents, William O. and Alice I. Day; his Aunt, Mary Brown; his Uncle, Frank Wilson; his Nephew, Devonte Johnson ; and his Cousin Antonio Brown.
Joseph was born in Fredericksburg on May 30, 1963 to Joseph Rudolph Day Sr. and Martha Toliver-Mitchell. As a Child Joseph lived in Orange, NJ and later in his teenage years moved to Hughey Ct. in Fredericksburg VA. On March 25, 1995 , he married Alfreda, his teenage sweetheart. On August 6, 1988 and February 14, 2008 respectively, he welcomed his two beautiful sons, who were the most important part of his life.
Joseph was a devoted father and avid Business Man. He enjoyed Playing Pinochle, Facebook Poker , Joking, talking on phone, communicating with his Cousin Terry Day on Facebook, having his one on one time with his Mother In-Law Annie Johnson, spending time with Aunts The Golden Girls and spending time with Family. Joseph was known to his Muslim Brothers as Yusuf Dawan, he was a spiritual man who deeply loved and respected Allah. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
A Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on December 11 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home in Spotsylvania VA. Home Going Celebration is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on December 12 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 4189 Pilgrim Church Rd. Locust Grove, VA 22508 (Family Visitation will be held 1hr prior to the service). Reverend George Comfort will officiate. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at 10127 Plank Rd.
