Obituary

Joseph Benjamin "Joe" Bryant, 95, of Locust Grove, passed away at Culpeper UVA Hospital on Monday, November 16, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born on March7, 1920 to Joseph and Estella (Slade) Bryant in Ahoskie, NC. Joe served in the US Army from July 1942 to October 1944 attaining the rank of Sargeant. He worked in the Composing Division of the Bureau of Engraving in Washington, D.C. for over 32 years. Joe met and married the love of his life of his life, Dorthelia Carson, and they celebrated 45 years, before her passing in July 2015.
Survivors include his Next of Kin, Brenda (Slade) Pace; Brother-in-law, Parris (Janette) Carson; nieces: Crystal Osansun, Kacey Peele, Shawndale Wilder and nephews; Vincent Peele and Terrell Wilder. Joe was also preceded in death by four brothers; Wallace, Julius, James, Jacobi and two sisters; Mary B. Peele, Sylvia Wilder and a niece June Bryant..
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania with Pastor Tom Savage officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial park, with Military Honors by the US Army.
