Obituary

Judy Randell Reid passed into the arms of her Savior on July 23, 2024 after a
courageous and faith-filled battle with colon cancer. Judy was born on November
5, 1946 in Bluefield, West Virginia to James P. and Mary Kate Waters. She was the
middle child of three girls. Judy graduated from Tazewell High School in 1965. She
was head cheerleader, member of the Pep Squad,and was Homecoming and May
Day Queen. Affectionately known as "Jug", she loved spending time with her
friends and family.
After graduating high school, Judy moved to Alexandria, VA to spread her wings.
She worked for C&P Telephone company for almost 10 years. During that time, she
married and had two children.
In 1978, Judy moved to Spotsylvania, VA where she raised her family. She worked 17
years in the banking industry and retired as call center supervisor at Mary
Washington Healthcare in 2011 after 18 years. Judy's hobbies included gardening,
crochet, word searches, and puzzles during her retirement years. She also enjoyed
camping and going to the beach.
Judy loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian. It was her faith that carried her
through the 18 months of her cancer battle. She always kept a sparkle in her eye
and spent her life loving, supporting, and encouraging others.
Judy is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Ronald Reid; daughter,
Laurie Lammonds (Tim); daughter-in-law Amy Randell; grandchildren Joshua
Lammonds (Janica), Benjamin Lammonds, Jonah Randell, Elijah Randell, and
Noah Maxwell Randell; sister Sandra Robinson (Harold); nieces Kelly King and
Jennifer Thorn (Jackson), step-daughters Kimberly Ludlam (Mike) and Teresa
Hailslip (Jeff); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Judy was
predeceased by her son Michael James Randell, mother Mary Kate Waters, father
James Pershing Waters, and sister Priscilla Sue Campbell.
The family has enormous gratitude for the love and kindness of all those who
came together to support them throughout Judy's cancer journey. A celebration
of her life will be held at The Waters at Lake Anna Clubhouse, 841 Lake Forest Dr,
Mineral VA 23117 on August 4th from 1-3pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Judy's honor to the Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville, VA.
