IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen Alison
Whelan
May 22, 1962 – February 15, 2026
We mournfully announce the departure of Mrs. Kathleen "Katy" Whelan, a beacon of warmth, wit, love, kindness, and generosity who passed away on February 15, 2026. Born on May 22, 1962, Katy lived a life characterized by resilience and determination, inspiring many with her steadfast pursuit of her goals despite adversity.
Katy is survived by her devoted husband, Denis Whelan, and their two remarkable sons, Timothy and Matthew, both a testament to her nurturing spirit in their strong, independent, and well-rounded lives. John Dennis Lytle and Kevin Lytle, her brothers, along with her sisters, Deborah Powell and Ann Lytle, also survive her. She shared a special bond with her brother-in-law, Tadhg Whelan, whose companionship added to the richness of her life.
She is also lovingly remembered by Kristie, Tim's partner, along with her children, Teigan and Jamison, who were a tremendous help and special part of Katy's life, bringing her much joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Mary (King) Lytle, and her brother, Frederick T. Lytle. Their memories were dear to her heart and have now reunited in a much peaceful place.
A viewing in honor of her well-lived life will be held on February 25, 2026, at 5:00 PM, at Laurel Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park. The funeral service will be held the following day, February 26, 2026, at 11:30 AM, at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
