Kenneth Wilson Washington was born on December 18, 1941, in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Howard "Motts" Broaddus and Rebecca "Ma Beck" Washington. He attended Spotsylvania County Schools. He joined Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He worked as a construction worker for years before his health failed. On Monday, July 23, 2012, he quietly passed away at St. Thomas Moore Hospital in Tacoma Park, Maryland after a long illness. Kenny loved to fish, hunt and slide across the dance floor! Motts, as most of his friends called him, took pride in how he looked. If his shoes weren't clean and shined he didn't consider himself dressed. During this service Kenny would not want you to be sad. To keep his memory alive stop by Russell's Boom Boom Room and play a few hands of Bid Whist in his honor! He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Janine Ellis of Fredericksburg, VA; three sons, Tate "Tatey Head" Washington, of Washington, DC, Kenneth "BoBo" Washington of Tucson, AZ, and Champ "Bambi" Washington of Spotsylvania, VA; two grandchildren, DeAndre Brown of Gaithersburg, MD and Jada Marche Washington of Rochester, NY; four brothers, Robert Broaddus of Miami, FL, James Broaddus of Pittsburgh, PA, Dalton Broaddus of Tampa, FL and Homer Broaddus of Buffalo, NY; four sisters, Landonia Fletcher of Spotsylvania, VA, Charlotte Slaughter of Washington, DC, Vera Broaddus and Christine Broaddus, both of Pittsburgh, PA; his special aunt, Carrie Washington of Spotsylvania, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alfonzo "Daddy Duke" Coleman, two brothers, Carl Brooks and Elijah "Sonny" Washington and one sister, Anna Brooks.
Service is Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00 am at Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
