Laura Mercoli, 94, of Bumpass passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, in Fredericksburg.
She was born in Vineland, N.J., on Feb. 12, 1917, the daughter of the late Frank and Pauline Murasky. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Fairfax, and recently of St. Mathew Roman Catholic Church, Spotsylvania. She had retired after 50 years as a seamstress. She was recognized by the Defense Intelligence Agency for creating the drape for the unveiling of the agency's 9/11 memorial in remembrance of the victims lost in the attack.
Mrs. Mercoli is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Eva Spolitback of Glassboro, N.J.; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Armand Liberati of Lake Anna; her grandchildren and their spouses, William and Carrie Spolitback, Catherine Spolitback, Mark and Tammy Liberati, Thomas and Kelli Liberati and Laura and Thomas Donnelly; and her great-grandchildren, Sophie, Emma, Nicholas, Zachary, Paul, Julia and Lyla. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Max and Stanley Murasky, and her sister, Frances Rolando.
A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Laurel Hill Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Laurel Hill Mausoleum.
