Loraine Ester Whittaker, 81, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007 at her residence. Loraine Whittaker was the retired Head Custodian at the Battlefield elementary School and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She loved to dance and was an avid driver and chauffer. She loved her children and grandchildren and was a mountain of strength for her family. She was a devout Christian who never looked down at people. She always put others before herself and she loved her Lord, Jesus Christ.
She is the widow of the late Joe William Whittaker and is survived by her two sons, Don L. Brack of Ft. Knox, Kentucky and Joseph Edward Vaughan, Jr. of Dinwiddie, Virginia, her daughters, Donna R. Leake and her husband Charles of Spotsylvania and Joanne Vaughan Valente of Colonial Heights, Virginia, two brothers, Marshall Broaddus Whitaker and John Ross Whitaker, two sisters, Louise Blondell Fritter and Marian Reirdon, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her sister Elnora Mae Howard, her two brothers, Richard L. Whitaker and Esmond M. Whitaker.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home in Spotsylvania. Family will receive friends Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
