Obituary

Lorretta Loraine West, 71, of Unionville, Virginia passed away at home on Friday, July 8, 2016. She was born on July 24, 1944 to Lawrence and Betty L. Jones (Kennedy) in Decatur, Illinois. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1964; and married Malvin Claudean West on January 30, 1965.
Lorretta worked at WAND TV Station in Decatur, Illinois as a receptionist and later as an accountant. After her husband, Malvin was promoted to Sales Representative, they moved their family to Annapolis, Maryland in 1977, where she continued to care for her children on a full time basis. In 1982, they moved to Northern Virginia where she worked part time at The Great Factory Store, and later the Washington Times Newspaper as a Tele-Marketer. During this time she also helped her Husband develop their family business, West Supply Company as an Executive Office Manager, from 1985 to 1994. In 1995 they established Mal-Lo Enterprises, where she worked as the Treasurer. Lorretta also worked at Kohl's Department Store, starting in 1999 as a part time customer service associate. She then became a full time employee after being promoted to the Jewelry Department Supervisor, and retired in 2009.
At an early age, Lorretta was baptized into Christ at the 1042 East North Street, Church of Christ in Decatur, Illinois. After the West family moved to Annapolis, Maryland, she continued to serve the Lord and fellowshipped at the Glenburnie Church of Christ, in Glenburnie Maryland; and later at the Springfield Church of Christ, when they moved to Northern Virginia. In 1987 she placed her membership with East Capital Street Church of Christ in Washington DC, where she was involved with the Ladies Day program and assisted with the Secret Sisters program, along with countless other duties. In 2007, along with her Husband, Lorretta placed her membership with the Church of Christ in Northern Virginia, where she continued to serve on the Ladies Day program committee, and various other duties until her passing.
Survivors include; 2 sons; Mark Alan West of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Jabulani Issa West of Manassas Park, Virginia; 2 daughters; Kimberly Lynnette Stanley (Jonathan) of Front Royal, Virginia, and Stephanie Lorraine Boxley (Corey) of Unionville, Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Trone Ashford Jr., Tyrone Ashford and Jamila West; 1 sister; Betty L. Jones of Pasadena, California; 1 half-brother; Lawrence Jones Jr. of Riverdale, Illinois; and 3 half-sisters; Juanita Jones of Chandler, Arizona, Yolanda Brown of Riverdale, Illinois, and Linda Jones-Hudson of Lexington, Nebraska; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lorretta was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 brother; Ollie M. Jones, and 2 half-brothers; James Jones, and Darryl Jones.
