Lucy W. Riedel, 95 of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, died Monday, August 24, 2009, at Heartlands Assisted Living in Severna Park, Maryland.
Born in Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Lillian D. Winston.
Mrs. Riedel had been employed by U.S. Underseas Cable Corp. in Bethesda, MD, and was a dedicated volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She was extremely active in the Lake of the Woods Church and the Lake of the Woods Association. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was an avid golfer and bridge player.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riedel was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Riedel, one sister, and three brothers.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Doubet and her husband, Eldon, and Nancy Winston; son, Fred Riedel and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Kristina, Joel, Matthew, Andrew, Kenneth, Steven, and Jeff; nine great grandchildren, and one brother, Robert Winston.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Lake of the Woods Church with Pastor Tom Schafer officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am - 12:00pm, prior to the service at the church.
