It is with compassion that Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, announces the passing of Lura Mable Lester, 83, of Woodbridge on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. Mrs. Lester was the widow of the late John D. Lester and the daughter of the late Troy and Virginia Mae Craft Vance.
Mrs. Lester was self employed, before retirement, operating a New Home Cleaning Service. She loved gardening, canning, cooking and working with her flowers. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and extended family.
She is survived by her three daughters Virginia Ellen Jones and her fianc Adam Collis, of Woodbridge, twin daughters; Etta Mae Boggs and her husband Jack of Woodbridge and Betty Ann Schmalenberg of Manassas. Also she was survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. She was predeceased by 3 bothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Friday, August 6, 2010 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Laurel Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, with the Rev. Amos Healy officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
