Margaret Ann Vandevander, 70 of Spotsylvania County passed away on Friday January 27, 2017 at her home. Margaret was born on August 30, 1946 to Thomas Haley and Elizabeth Ada (Tate) Durrette in Louisa, VA. She married Richard Ellis Vandevander on Februrary 29, 1964 in Fredericksburg. Survivors include her husband; Richard; two sons: Richard (Tammy), Michael (Jeanette); three daughters: Debbie Thurston (Donald), Mary Rice (Kenneth), Penny Crabtree (Brian); three brothers Ronnie Durrette (Brenda), Ricky Durrette (Peggy), Gary Durrette; three sisters Shirley Vandevander, Betty Thomas (Robert) and Diane Turner; 15 grandchildren; Donald Thurston Jr (Christin), Melissa Thurston, Dwayne Thurston (Amy), Crystal, Richard, Jonathan Vandevander, Evelyn Stringham, Michael Vandevander, JR, Keith and Nathaniel Vandevander, Zachary Crabtree, Harold Rice (Rochelle), Chrinstine Zampini (David) and Susan Rice; and 13 great grandchildren; Dayna, Donald III, and Danielle Thurston, Edward Elliott, Dwayne Jr, Damyin, Elisha Graves, Jordan Palmer, Brooklyn, Skyler, Julieanna, Paisley Rice, and Nicholas Zampini. Margaret was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenny and brother Thomas Haley Durrette, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 31, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home and funeral services held on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 10 am, at the funeral home, with interment following in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
