Marlene Dyke Yienger's Obituary
Marlene Dyke Yienger went home to God on February 21, 2007 after battling a long illness at her home in Lake of the Woods, Virginia.
Marlene was born on April 10, 1931 in Albany, N.Y. She was the daughter of Harold H. Dyke and Grace (Tobin) Dyke.She was raised in Londonderry, N.H. After high school, Marlene had a career in modeling at Pariseau's in Manchester. She then spent many years in accounting, sales, and customer service.
Marlene traveled and lived in many places in the U.S. and abroad. She also enjoyed being a homemaker and had a flair for creating a beautiful home for her family.Marlene and her husband retired to Lake of the Woods, Virginia where she was an active member of the Lakes of the Woods Lioness Club, numerous charities and other organizations.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 32 years, John Yienger. She was the proud mother of two daughters: Mrs. Alan (Renee Briand) Ferlet of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Mrs. Dennis (Michele Briand) Priddy of Bedford, New Hampshire. She was also proud of her step-children: Mrs. Michael (Therese Yienger) Israel of Long Island, N.Y., Robert Yienger of Bronxville, N.Y., Kevin Yienger of N.Y.C., N.Y. and David Yienger of Plano, Texas.
She is also survived by her three sisters: Nancy (Dyke) Brown of Bedford, N.H., Gertrude (Dyke) Monaghan of Colorado Springs, C.O., Kathryn (Dyke) Peck of Northwood, N.H. ;a brother Thomas Dyke of Suncook, N.H. and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marlene was extremely loving and caring and she will be missed by so many.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 26, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home. A Mass of Celebration will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lake of the Woods Fire & Rescue, 104 Lakeview Parkway, Locust Grove, VA 22508 or to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpointe Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
