Marshall Jefferson Garrette, age 88 of Fredericksburg, died Monday, December 1, 2008.
Born in Appomattox, VA on March 5, 1920, he was the son of the late Monroe Lumsden Garrette and Mollie Sue Bagby Garrette.
He was the beloved husband of Nell Hope Walker Garrette for 61 years and father of four children: Marsha Lynn Garrette Bullock and husband Bishop of Camden, SC, Mark Jeffrey Garrette and wife Anne of Barrington, IL, Robin Hope Garrette Kelly and husband Brian of Fredericksburg, VA, and Daryn Nell Garrette Gibbons and husband Robert of Richmond, VA. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Alice Elizabeth Garrette Moore of Ashland, VA, five sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park located at 10127 Plank Road (Route 3 west of Fredericksburg), Spotsylvania, VA 22553.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
