IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Catherine
Hill
February 5, 1943 – January 15, 2025
Mary Catherine Hill, 81, of Partlow, VA, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving husband of 62 years, William (Bill) R. Hill. Born on February 5, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to William Hickerson and Carrie Woods, Mary was predeceased by her son, Daniel Joseph Hill, and her grandson, William (Billy) Kenneth Campbell.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her children, William (Rob) R. Hill Jr. and Jeanne Marie (Hill) Campbell; and her cherished grandchildren: Allison Noel Campbell, married to Travis Speth; Kayleigh Noel (Hill) Swinehart, married to William Swinehart; William (Robbie) R. Hill III; Kenny Campbell, and his partner Mary Honard; and Jonathan Campbell, and his partner Eva Kerr. She was also a proud and loving "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren, Kevin and Ripleigh Swinehart, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her third great-grandchild, Raegan Swinehart, in April 2025. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through the generations.
Mary had a fulfilling career as an office manager for Wells Fargo Securities, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. After retiring, she continued to embrace new experiences by working at Kings Dominion for seven years. During this time, she developed a special bond with her co-workers and particularly enjoyed interacting with the children who visited the park. Mary took great joy in brightening their days by handing out stickers to every child who stopped by. Her warmth and kindness made her a beloved figure among both her colleagues and the families who visited, and she cherished these moments of joy and connection.
Together with her husband Bill, Mary built a life filled with cherished memories. In her free time, she loved reading and often convinced Bill to take her to the library to pick up a new book. One of her greatest joys was attending bluegrass festivals with friends and family. Her kind heart and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held on February 8, 2025, at Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with the service following at 11:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow the service in the church's fellowship hall, and attendees are encouraged to bring a dessert or dish to share in honor of Mary's love for bringing people together.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
