Obituary

Mary Jane King passed away on Monday, February 19 th , at her home in Spotsylvania. She was born on August 5, 1930, in Racine Wisconsin, the youngest of three and daughter of Peter and Karoline Spodick.


She grew up in Racine and graduated from William Horlick High School. In her teen years she raced sulkies for the Horlick family. After graduation she worked at the Hamilton Beach Manufacturing Company. On May 5, 1952 she married Arthur Glen Oliver. In the 60's and early
70's she worked as a real estate agent.

Arthur preceded her in death in 1975. In 1976, she married Alfred Meehan King. They lived in Racine where she owned and operated King's Flowers. Subsequently they lived in New York City, Saddle River, NJ, and then Spotsylvania, VA, where they were active members of the
community since 1997. Alfred preceded her in death in 2022.


She is survived by daughters Katherine (John) LeFebre and Tina Oliver, son Tom (Yvonne) King, grandchildren John James LeFebre, Justin LeFebre, Karoline (Bjorn) Rheborg, and Joseph (Kaitlin) LeFebre, Amanda (Carl) Duncan, Alex King, Emily King, and great-grandchildren Elin
Rheborg, Oliver Rheborg, Marion LeFebre, Henry Duncan and Colleen Duncan. Her brother Rudolph and sister Josephine preceded her in death.

Funeral services and a reception will be at the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg on March 23 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Those who wish to express sympathy may consider making a charitable contribution in Mary Jane's name to Rikki's Refuge Animal Sanctuary or the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg Capital Fund.
