Mary Jane Moore, 82, of Rhoadesville, Va, passed away at VCU Medical Center, Thur. Feb. 27, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on Dec. 19, 1931 in Alexandria, VA to Henry and Lillian (Feltner) Starkey. She graduated from George Washington H.S. in Alexandria. Mary married William Thomas Moore, Jr. on July 29, 1951 in Alexandria, where they lived until moving to Rhoadesville, Va. 18 years ago. She loved to cook, tending her garden and caring for her family.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years; William, 1 son: Stephen Thomas Moore (Ann Marie); 1 dau; Robin Hall-Carr (Kevin); 1 sister, Sally Pettit (Joseph) 4 grandchildren: Ashley Hall, Stephen Moore (Kerry), Julie Barden (Jason), Lisa Hall-Phillis (Jay); 4 great grandchildren;
Hannah Hall, Caroline Barden, Josh Phillis and Amelia Moore, and her beloved Norwich terrier "Cricket". Mary was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Alan Hall, grandson, Sean Hall; great grandson, Jacob Hall and a sister; Patricia Chapman.
Visitation will be on Wed. March 5, 2014, 12 noon to 1 pm. at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, with the Memorial Service beginning at 1 p.m. with Mark McNabb officiating. In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to Hospital Hospitality House
