Obituary

Mary Ann Elizabeth Rodgers Salisbury

11/22/1938 - 10/16/2020

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Mary Ann Elizabeth Rodgers Salisbury on Friday, October 16, 2020.  Mary was a dearly loved Mother to 2 daughters Wanda Withers, Deborah Amonick, and one son George Salisbury.

Grandmother to Mark and Keith Salisbury, Jennifer Bustamante, Elizabeth Kelly, Samuel and Rebecca Amonick.  Mary had 12 great grandchildren.

Beloved sister to Frances Evans, Virginia Peace, Richard, Larry and Gary Rodgers.

Mary worked in a number of places to care for her family.  She married George "Benny" Salisbury in April 1958.  They lived in Washington, DC until the 60's where they bought a farm and lived in Spotsylvania County.  Mary then started working with Spotsylvania Co Transportation driving a school bus and later became a school bus driver trainer.  She loved her job and the children.  Her and Benny bought a dream house in Page Co of Luray as a weekend home and later decided to move there full time.  She then began to volunteer at Page One until she fell and broke her hip in 2019.  After that time she was no longer able to live alone so being the loving mother she is she decided to move in with her girls shared time between the two.  Mary first moved to Richmond to live with her oldest Wanda.  In January she moved with her youngest daughter Debbie where she spent her last months and days.

Mary wore many hats in her life, mother, waitress, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and so many more.  She loved her family and all she meet,  there was not a soul out there that didn't love Miss Mary.  She had adopted "family" members.  She did not know any strangers, all were welcomed to her home for a cup of coffee to a 7 course meal.

Mary had a heart of GOLD.

Mary will be greatly missed by all that met her and loved her.

There will be a visitation at Laurel Hill Funeral Home at 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania VA 22553 on Thursday, October 22, 2020 beginning at 11 am.  The visitation will be followed by a service at 1 pm, internment will occur after at Laurel Hill Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband George B. Salisbury Jr.
