Matthew Paul "Matty" Smith, 32, of Locust Grove passed away Sunday Morning, August 21, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital. Matty was born on May 13, 1984 in Fairfax VA to Dale Emmett Smith Jr., and Amy Lucille (Hodgson) Smith. He received his education at Potomac HS in Dumfries, VA and became an electrical apprentice. Matty was totally devoted to friends and family, brightening their lives with his love of life and laughter. He was a caring son, calling his mother daily and always asking her advice.
Matty was loved by his friends, being outgoing and loving. He will be loved and missed very much.
Survivors include his mother and step-father; Amy and James Hodgson; his father and step-mother; Dale and Fortina Smith; his brother; Dale Emmett Smith III; sister Michelle Marjorie Smith; his girl friend, Tori Stubbs and grandparents; Barbara Ann Hamberger and Steven Hamberger) and Czernia Warren Roberts . Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 10 am to 11 am at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, and the funeral services beginning at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, Spotsylvania.
