Nell Hope Walker Garrette, age 92 of Fredericksburg, VA, died peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2016 after a short illness. Born in Winston-Salem, NC on March 2, 1924, she is the daughter of the late Howell Clifford Walker and Claudia Hunter Walker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Marshall Jefferson Garrette. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Lynn G. Bullock and husband, Bishop of Camden, SC, Mark J. Garrette and wife, Anne of Barrington, IL, Robin G. Kelly and husband, Brian of Fredericksburg, VA, and Daryn G. Gibbons and husband, Robert of Moseley, VA. In addition to her children, she is survived by ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Maxine Montgomery of Mathews, NC, and many nieces and nephews. A private service will be held Saturday. She will be interred next to her husband at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Spotsylvania, VA.
