Norman Leslie "Norm" Reynolds, 80, of Burr Hill, VA passed away Tuesday Feb. 10, 2015, at Mary Washington Hospital with his family at his side. Norman was born on Jan. 31, 1935 to Clyde Leslie and Gladys (Brown) Reynolds in South Berwick, Maine. He entered the US Army in 1952 during the Korean War, served two tours in Vietnam, 3 years in Korea, and two years in Africa before retiring as a Master Sergeant in April 1973. Norm earned 6 Good Conduct Medals, a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star with "V" and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He married Patricia Ann Dupris on June 8, 1956 at Ft. Belvoir, VA. After retiring from the Army, Norm started working in the propane industry in Fairfax, VA, and retired a second time in 1996, due to his health from Amerigas. Norm was also known for his many years of creating wooden crafts and furniture. He loved working with his hands and this passion kept him busy in his retirement years. He and Patricia moved to Burr Hill in 1979 from Woodbridge, Va. Norm was a member of the VFW Post 3103, Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania American Legion Post 320.
Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Patricia, Son; Donald Paul Reynolds,
2 daughters; Diane M. Berkley, and Jane Elizabeth Reynolds; 1 sister; Judy Watterson and her husband Donald; sister-in-law Leona; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Thomas Leslie Reynolds, brother Chester Reynolds and sister Clara Brackett.
Visitation will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Friday Feb. 13, 2015 from 1 pm to 2 pm with funeral services beginning at 2 pm. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the DAV at dav.org or American Cancer Society at cancer.org
