Pete Eugene Moore, 71 of Locust Grove, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at his residence.
Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Judiatha Holcomb Moore.
Mr. Moore was a well known auto mechanic who loved his work, an avid NASCAR fan, and a wonderful father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Misty Dawn Freeman, and a brother, Junior Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Moore; daughters, Debra Stevens and her husband, Dennis, Sr., Barbara Freeman and her husband David, Joyce Wells and her husband JR, Marla Moore-Dent and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Dennis Stevens, Jr. and his wife Angel, Wendall Nichol, Cody Wells, Misty Wells, Dakota Dent, Matthew Freeman, and Willie G. Freeman; great grandchildren, Jacob Pickeral and Amber Stevens; brothers, Bob Moore and his wife Jo-Ann, and Roy Moore; sisters, Wanda Hoffman and Geraldine Ross; and two companion pets, Brandy and Baby.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00pm Monday, June 8, 2009 in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Carol Markham officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 - 2:00pm, prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mary Washington Hospital ICU, Health South in Richmond, Mary Washington Hospice, Officer Short with the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department, Capt. Greg Leitz, Spotsylvania Fire and EMS, and many friends for the love and care that was given to Mr. Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Moore and his family are in the care of Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd, Spotsylvania.
