Philip Bartholomew DeSimone, 79, of Locust Grove, VA, passed away at his home Tuesday, August 19, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Philip was born in Fossacesia, Italy in 1935 and immigrated to the United States with his family after WWII. He was a United States Navy veteran. He lived most of his life with his family in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. He was a proficient tailor who worked at JC Penney, Strawbridge & Clothier and Men's Wearhouse. He was a member of the Lake of the Woods Veteran's Association, Knights of Columbus - Plymouth Council, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 25 Collegeville, PA and the Men of Malvern Association. He loved his family, history, traveling, bowling and playing bocce on the beaches of North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Arlene, and their three children David, Joseph and Laura; his two grandchildren Philip and Emily DeSimone; and his brothers Donato and Francesco and his sisters Lillian and Mary Ann.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nicola and Maria DeSimone.
A church service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Saint Eleanor Parish Church in Collegeville, PA followed by his internment at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Norristown, PA.
