Ray Hutchens, 66, of Colonial Beach, VA died February 10, 2008 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Hutchens was born May 23, 1941 in Tazwell County, VA. He served in the United States Air Force prior to moving to Northern Virginia in 1958 where he worked for Fairfax County Waste Water Treatment Plant until retiring after 30 years of employment. He then went to work as the Head of Transportation for the Colonial Beach School System for ten years.
Mr. Hutchens was preceded in death by his son Ray T. Hutchens, Jr., his father Ira Hutchens, his mother Kathryn Hutchens, three brothers, Roger, Gene and Larry Hutchens, his sister Nina Hutchens.
Survivors include his wife Patricia A. Hutchens, three children, Donna Buddington, Juanita Makuta and her husband Mark, and David R. Hutchens; eleven grandchildren, David Shawn Hutchens, Tricia McDougal and her husband Daniel, Tony Buddington, Jenna King and her husband Isaac, Kristy Makuta, Brittany Makuta, Lisa Hutchens, Sarah Hutchens, Anna Hutchens, David R. Hutchens, Jr., and Randi Hutchens; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Hutchens, Luther Hutchens and Paul Hutchens; three sisters, Judy Atkins, Loretta Lunsford and Joyce Wilson.
A funeral service celebrating Mr. Hutchens' life will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 at 11:00am at Laurel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. James Adkins, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David S. Hutchens, Mark Makuta., Lenold Deavers, Bruce Deavers, Billy Deavers and Isaac King, and Richie Petrie.
