Richard Ray Turner, 65, of Spotsylvania, passed away at Mary Washington Hospital with his family by his side, on Thursday March 12, 2015.
Richard was born on October 4, 1949 in Longview, TX, to Richard and Bettye Jane (Warner) Turner. He entered the US Marine Corp in 1969 where he would serve for over 20 years. Richard married Fatima Sophie Saidi on March 17, 1973 and they had three children. He was very active in his childrens lives, coaching baseball, softball and others sports with them. Richard retired in 1989, at the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked in sales and security with his son, for several years and as a self employed wiring installer.
On September 19, 1994 he married Martha Elizabeth Maxfield in Fredericksburg and to this union there were three children born. They were members of St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Culpeper, VA, where Richard was very active and taught Sunday School. Richard was very active in establishing the Virginia Commonwealth Autism Service.
Survivors include, His wife, Martha, 2 Sons, Richard Patrick (Amber Garrett) Turner, Michael James Turner; 4 daughters; Maria Amani Turner, Gisele (Dwight Day) Turner, Sarah Elizabeth Turner, Caitlin Alyssa Turner, brother, Michael Wayne (Anita Fiddleman) Turner, 3 sisters; Pamela Anne (Michael Hobbs) Turner, Tracey Anne Stuttes, Kelly Camille (Jason Whittington) Wren and 7 grandchildren; Dominique Richard Turner, Austin Tyler Turner, Monique Amani Turner, Arieanna Raye Turner, Zoey Gabrielle Mistalski, Richard Darrius Turner, Demitri Demonn Turner-Day.
