Robert J. "Bob" Harris, 72, retired Washington D.C. Police Officer, of Locust Grove, passed away at home with his family at his side, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
Bob was born on August 26, 1943 in Frackville, PA to John and Katharine (Dower) Harris. He enlisted in the US Army on February 12, 1962, serving for three years and being discharged on February 11, 1965. Bob married Beverly Ann Kuzma in January 1968 in Maryland. In 1967 he joined the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. and retired after 21 years in 1988. Bob then went to work for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. After his second retirement, Bob and Beverly moved to Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Va. He was a member of the Association of Retired Police Officers and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include, his wife, Beverly; two sons; Brian (Christina) and Scott; two daughters; Kimberly Davis (Greg), Robin Chuckerel (Mike); three brothers; Edward, Eugene and Thomas; two sisters; Shirley Woodring and Joan Morgan; six grandchildren; Courtney, Calleigh, Bailee, Kylie, Monica and Malyah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
