Date published: 6/29/2011 Robert S. Wallar Robert S. Wallar, 92, of Spotsylvania County went to his heavenly home on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Hughes Home.
Bob was born on July 1, 1918, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Scott W. and Emma E. Wallar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Wallar.
He was a World War II staff sergeant in the Army infantry and a drill instructor. He worked as a retail manager for McCrory's and was a member of the Macon Ware Masonic Lodge in Annandale. Bob was a good Christian man who loved the Lord. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in York, Pa., where he and Frances lived for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Walker of Spotsylvania; his son, Scott Wallar of Spotsylvania; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Donald G. Wallar of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Culpeper National Cemetery. The Rev. Robert L. Shultz will officiate.
