Obituary

Robert C. Haring, 91, of Locust Grove, VA, died at home on November 30, 2025. He was born in Bethlehem, PA, on December 23, 1933, to Albert and Ruth Haring. He attended Indiana University, Bloomington, where his father, a professor, taught in the Business School. Robert earned a BA in 1945, an MBA in 1958 and a PhD., in 1962. He taught Economics and Business Administration as a professor at the University of Montana, Missoula, University of Alaska, Fairbanks and University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He served in the Air Force from May 1954 to February 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David, daughter Ruth and son Brian.

Robert was known for being a good fisherman, hunter and bridge player. In Alaska, he shot a Kodiak Brown Bear and made the hide into a rug. His small great-granddaughters used the bear's head for a short slide.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 42 years. They met playing bridge. Sons, Frederick and David, step-children Gwen, Dennis and MArtin, grand and great-grandchildren.
