Robert E.A Mackes, 89, of Lakes of the Woods, passed away on July 14th, 2024. Bob was born in Scraton, Pa., the son of the late Norman and Betty Mackes. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Mackes, son Robert Jr. (Buddy) and daughter, Julie Snyder (Gregory J.) of Mechanicsville, Virginia. He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Depew and Beverly Mackes, both of Scranton, Pa. and Grandchildren, Johnathan Snyder (Marissa), LeeAnn Snyder, and great-grandchild, Audrey Jane Snyder. Bob was an Air Force veteran and retired from the Central Intelligence Agency. His agency career included service in more than 25 countries throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and South America. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and all sports. He also enjoyed music and singing as well as photographing and feeding his backyard birds. Bob was a member of the Lake of the Woods Church and a charter member of Lake of the Woods. Funeral service will be private.
