Obituary

With great compassion, Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, announces the passing of Robert Joseph Reynolds, 60, of Culpeper. He died, August 27, 2010, in the Culpeper Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of complications from a 2003 stroke. Robert embraced his severe disabilities with tremendous courage and faith. He was a former resident of Hope Mills, NC. Following his stroke, Robert moved to VA in 2004 to be near his sister Laura and her family. Robert J. Reynolds
Mr. Reynolds was born on June 8, 1950 in New York City, the son of the late Robert (Bob) and Louise (Gunn) Reynolds. He attended Saint Ann Catholic School in Fayetteville, NC. He graduated from Fayetteville Senior High School in 1969 and NC State University in 1973. He was an educator of Political Science, Economics and History in various colleges and universities including the Ft. Bragg Campus of Emory-Riddle Aeronautical University and Campbell College, Methodist College, Fayetteville State University and Fayetteville Technical Community College in North Carolina. Mr. Reynolds was also a past Assistant Director of the Ft. Bragg American Red Cross. He was an active volunteer with the CARE Clinic and Catholic Charities in Fayetteville. Prior to moving to VA, he was a parishioner of the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Hope Mills, N.C.
He is survived by his two sisters and their husbands, Mrs. Laura Morris and John Morris of Spotsylvania and Mary R. Brown and Therrel Brown of Papillion, NE., four nieces and nephews, Joseph and Catharina Morris and Jacob and Olivia Brown.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be conducted 10am Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church, 114 East Edmondson Street, Culpeper, officiated by Father Leo Zonneveld.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd., Spotsylvania, where a Rosary will be said at 8:30 pm.
