Robert Dale Russell passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, January 31, 2020. He is survived by his four children, Bob (Kathy) Russell Jr. of Amisville, VA, Diane (Neil) Wrobleski of York, PA, Julie Russell of Catlett, VA, and Vanessa (Chuck) Stiles of Partlow, VA. He is survived by his sisters Tina, Rhea and Martha, as well as his brother Walter. Robert is also survived by nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Walter E. Russell and Rhea Masters, and two of his sisters Althea and Barbara.
Robert was born on October 3, 1935 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was in US Army from 1953-1956 and was stationed at Vint Hill Farms Station, in Warrenton, VA. Robert went on to work for the Fairfax City Police in 1958 and retired as the Deputy Police Chief in 1979. He graduated from the FBI Academy in 1974 and also worked for Farrish Oldsmobile in Fairfax, as well as the Prince William County Sheriff's Department. Robert lived in Manassas, VA for 40 years before moving to Stuart, FL in 2001. His hobbies included metal detecting, motorcycles and golfing. Robert enjoyed his family, friends, warm weather, walking, and staying busy outdoors. The family took comfort in knowing he was a great man who had a big heart and had many friends.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Heartland Hospice, 493 Blackwell Rd #319, Warrenton, VA 20186.
