Rodrigo M. Manzano Sr., 62, of Spotsylvania County passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a 3 year battle with stomach cancer.
Mr. Manzano was born April 29, 1950 in Quito, Ecuador and became a naturalized citizen in the early 1970s. After graduating college as an engineer, Rodrigo was a civilian employee for various branches of the armed services. Upon retiring from the government, Rodrigo became a property manager for Long and Foster Realtors in Fredericksburg.
Rodrigo valued family and friends above all else. He was passionate about soccer and helping others. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Elizabeth, two sons, Marcello Manzano and Mark Manzano and a daughter in law Sarrina Manzano. The family wishes to thank all friends and family for their support during this difficult time.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to the cancer research performed at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
