Ross David Simmons was born in South Bend, IN to the late Rev. Ross
Simmons and Vivienne Simmons on May 19, 1939. He departed this
earthly life on Monday, April 21, 2025.
David accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully followed in his
father's footsteps into ministry. He attended North Central University,
where he met and married the love of his life, Florence Brodt.
He was pastor at Ellsworth, WI Assembly of God, 1961- 1964, Tomah,
WI Assembly of God 1964-1974, Pound, WI Assembly of God
1974 -1980, Minot, ND Assembly of God 1980 - 2000, Ruskin, FL
Destiny Church 2010-2025. He served nine years as Presbyter in the
North Dakota District, serving an additional seven years as District

David's heart for ministry was grounded in reconciliation, spiritual
growth, and a deep love for the Word of God. He was especially gifted
in pulpit ministry, where his anointed preaching left a lasting impact
on all who heard him. Those touched by his ministry often shared
words such as: "greatly appreciate your ministry and passion for God,"
"words can't express the full impact of your effect on our lives," "your
sermons are straight from the Bible and you are there when people
need you," "the Lord has called you and set you apart as a great leader
and we are blessed to have you as our pastor," "It is evident you love the
Lord with all your heart."
David leaves his brother Ray, sister Rhoda, and brother Ron (Bonnie)
as well as his three daughters, Cheryl (Steve), Carol (Mark), Caren
(Troy), and Grandchildren Sarah (Brian), Rachael (Dennis) and Ross,
as well as 4 great-grandchildren, to cherish his memory.
