Rufino A. Fisher, Sr. 62, retired Washington D.C. Metro Police Department Detective Sergeant, of Fredericksburg passed away on Saturday November 12, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Rufino was born on August 14, 1954 to Authoro and Sylvia (Branch) Fisher in Panama, with his great grandparents moving there from Barbados to work on the Panama Canal.
He graduated from high school in New York City and married Barbara Ann Piner on July 31, 1972. Rufino joined the Metro Police Department in 1973, retiring as a Sergeant on August 29, 1998 after 25 years of service. He and Barbara moved to Fredericksburg in 1993, where they attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Rufino enjoyed traveling, going to all nations except Africa, taking extra care on his vehicles and most of all, Bible reading and study. Survivors include his wife: Barbara; son, Rufino A. Fisher, Jr. (Michelle); daughter, Salima C. Chabot (Chad), three grandchildren; Simone, Joshua, and Jasmine; three brothers; three sisters and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Fredericksburg on November 26, 2016 at 1 p.m.
