Ruth Marie Harrell, 91, of Fredericksburg passed away Friday May 10, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Ruth was born on March 10, 1922 to Robert Fulton and Susan (Bard) Fisher in Lancaster County, Penn. Ruth was the youngest of 9 children and her four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
She graduated from high school and then attended Business College for 2 years.
Ruth married Frederick Hilton Harrell on April 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2002.
Ruth was employed as a Budget Analyst for 27 years, with the U.S. Department of State, retiring in 1978. She and Frederick moved to the Fredericksburg area in December of 1978.
Ruth served as President of the VFW Post 10546 Auxiliary, Vice-President and President of the F.O.P. #15 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member of the Moose Lodge #1655 Auxiliary.
Survivors include: 2 sons; Frederick H. Jr. of Indian Head MD, Ronald L. of Fredericksburg VA; 1 daughter; Debra Helman of Frederick MD;
3 grandchildren; Shannon Harrell, Robert Helman and Kathleen Fertig and 1 great granddaughter, Brianna Helman.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Friday May 17, 2013 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, and funeral services will be on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. David Thayer officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, Spotsylvania, Va.
