Samuel M. Belinsky, MD, 78 of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Oxford, CT he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary Behuniak Belinsky. Dr. Belinsky was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a 1959 graduate of the George Washington University Medical School, and practiced as an OB/GYN for 34 years in Northern Virginia. He greatly enjoyed his retirement in Lake of the Woods.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Belinsky.
He is survived by his wife, June Belinsky; son, David Belinsky; daughters, Laura Belinsky, Tammy Belinsky, and Geri B. Jones; three stepchildren, Eugene Protzko, Joseph Protzko, and June Nicholas; grandchildren, Marshall, Samuel, and Kenneth Jones, Nicholas and Christopher Belinsky; step grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly, Devin and Rachel Protzko, Marina, Jimmy, and Lara Nicholas; brother, Howard Belinsky; daughter in law, Sherryl Belinsky; sons in law, Harold McCall and Kenneth Jones.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00am Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home with Father Michael Sekela, priest at Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30 - 8:30pm at the funeral home, where there will be a prayer service from 8:00 - 8:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orange County Animal Shelter, Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, or to the Mary Washington Hospital Foundation.
Dr. Belinsky and his family are in the care of Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania.
