Obituary

Samuel Gilling Rodgers, age 69 of Stafford, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Johnson Rodgers.
Mr. Rodgers was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an auto mechanic and the Owner/Operator of The Outpost in Brooke, VA. He was also a loving caregiver, and an avid Nascar Race Fan. Mr. Rodgers was thought of by his family to be the strongest man alive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2001 by his "Little Helper," his grandson, Michael Albert Rodgers, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marcia Rodgers; four sons, David Rodgers and his wife Penny, William Rodgers and his wife Kandi, Michael Rodgers, Sr., and John Rodgers; 3 grandsons, Andrew, Zachary, and Gabriel Rodgers; brothers and sisters, Evangeline Sherman, Bill Rodgers, and Marilyn Kowalski. Numerous nieces, nephews, and his dog, Rocket, also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry McCaslin officiated. Interment followed in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Rock Hill Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1565 Garrisonville Rd, Stafford, VA 22556.
