Shirley Mae Perdue Thomas, age 55 of Spotsylvania, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008.
Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of Ella Mae and the late Maurice Perdue.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Daniel Thomas.
She spent 36 amazing years with her loving husband James "Mike" Thomas.
Shirley was a homemaker who was known as The Neighborhood Mom because of her love for all children. She loved writing poetry and crafting, having an uncanny knack for making things out of nothing. She created and grew one of the number one craft websites with all projects including one of her special poems. Above all else, she loved her husband, her mother, her 6 children and her 7 grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Michael Thomas; daughter Karen Ashley Janson and her husband Brian; son, James Michael Thomas, Jr., and his wife Angela; twin sons, David Jarad and his fianc Kristyn, and Matthew Garrett Thomas; daughters Laura Ashley Thomas and Katie Michelle Thomas; grandchildren, Nathan, Paige, Toni, Trini, Zachary, Darion, and Aris; mother, Ella Mae Perdue; brother, John Wayne Perdue; sister, Phyllis Ann Fennessy; mother-in-law, Dorothy Elaine Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday, February 4, 2008 in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 3 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Children's Miracle Network or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
