June 29, 1949 – September 7, 2024
Stephen Arch Sexton Sr. also known as "Pappy" passed away September 7, 2024, at the age of 75, from cardiac aspiration at Mary Washington Hospital with family and friends beside him. He was born June 29, 1949 in Roanoke, Virginia, he then moved to Fredericksburg at the age of 4. In December 2023 his final move was to Colonial Beach, Virginia to enjoy retirement.
Steve is preceded in death by his Father Alfred Archie Sexton, Mother Bonnie Estella Osborn-Sexton, and Brothers Alfred Earl Sexton and Calvin Ray (Sonny) Sexton, his children Raylene, Susan Rene, and Granddaughter Tiarra, and Grandson Ray Charles. Cousins, Derreck Hughes, Virginia (Jinxie) Calamos Nave, Eddie Osborne Jr. and Carol's Daughter Nicky Clark.
Steve is survived by the Love of his life Carol Nalls Clark, to whom he was engaged their last fourteen and a half years of twenty four and a half years together. Surviving family members include Godson Murdock Woodard, his children Ryan and Ian. Son, Stephen A. Sexton, Sister in law Norma Jean Sexton, Nephew Ron Sexton and wife Susan and children Nicole, Erika, and Adam. Niece Darlene Sexton Knott, husband Stacey and children Brittany and Ryan. Nephew Edward Ray Sexton and wife Kimberly Anne and children Rachel Estella and Holly Anne. Nieces Elizabeth Browne, Julia Smith and her children Tyler Stone, and Skylar. Cousin Joyce Osborne Hughes and her husband Billy. Cousin Gary Osborne. Carol Nalls Clark and her sons, Aaron, and Jason. Along with multiple Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Steve's early career included carpentry, many successful years in automobile sales and lastly a bus driver and CDL trainer for Spotsylvania County School transportation. His hobbies included: challenging crossword puzzles; reading Tolkien, Isaac Asimov and Louis L'Amour novels. He enjoyed playing guitar and had innovative Chef skills. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman, and most recently enjoyed dart throwing. He was an interesting conversationalist and a good listener who had a great memory and enjoyed socializing, never having met a stranger.
Steve's memory will be honored by loyal lifetime friendships and close knit family for his wisdom, trustworthiness and gentle spirit. His remains will be interred with Carol at her passing.
Steve now lives in paradise,
His earthly trial is done,
His spirit has risen,
And eternal life is won.
