Sylvia Frances Lloyd Viar, age 97, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, in Locust Grove, VA. Born on March 15, 1927, Sylvia was a cherished, beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.

Sylvia graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Alexandria, VA, and soon after embarked on a fulfilling career with the General Services Administration (GSA), where she dedicated 25 years of service. At GSA, she not only contributed significantly but also formed many lifelong friendships that she treasured throughout her years.

In her personal life, Sylvia was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and caring. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Williams of Locust Grove, VA, Christine Lambert of Locust Grove, VA, David G. Viar, Jr. (Karen) of Centreville, VA, Patricia Smith of Locust Grove, VA, William C. Viar, (Carole) of Charlotte, NC, Stephen Viar (Sharon) of Fairfax, VA, Philip Viar (Lulu) of Locust Grove, VA and Sandra Steighner (Brent) of Hanahan, SC. Sylvia's legacy also includes 26 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, David G. Viar, Sr., her parents, Rosalie and Edward A. Lloyd, Sr., her siblings, Edward A. Lloyd, Jr., Rosemary Carter, Lillian Curtis, and Bridget Spittle, and her grandsons, Joseph J. Agresto, Robert E. Williams, Jr., and Aaron Lambert.

Her presence brought joy and comfort, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and memories shared by her loving family and friends.

Sylvia's family will receive family and friends for visitation hours on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00 pm. at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553.  Immediately following the visitation hours, at 1:00pm Sylvia's Funeral Service will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home as well. At the conclusion of the Funeral Service, the family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse at 102 Lake of the Woods Way, Locust Grove, VA 22508. Please join them for continued fellowship and to share more stories of Sylvia. There will be a burial at Mt. Comfort Cemetery at 6600 S Kings Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306 on Monday November 4, 2024, at 1:00pm.
