T. Jane Jennings, 93, of Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 with her loving family at her side. She was born on March 15, 1921 in Killawog, NY to John and Clara Belle (Shippey) McIntyre. Jane graduated from Marathon Central High School, 4th in her class, in 1937. She received her B.S. Degree in Education from Cortland State Teachers College and began a 43 year career at Groton Central Elementary Schools, retiring in 1983. Jane married C.B. Jennings on Dec. 20, 1940 in Marathon, NY. They settled in Groton in 1945, moving in 1949 to a house that C.B. built. In late 1999 she relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia to be closer to family. Jane's love of music lead her to serve as the organist and choir director at the Groton Community church for 50 years. She moved to the Heartfields Assisted Living Center, where she continued to be active with her love in music, by leading 3 music groups, was the pianist and chorus director and also directed the Fredericksburg Senior Singers.
Survivors include her two daughters; Sylva J. Wadsworth "William" and Deborah J. Bowler "Robert"; 5 grandchildren (Carolyn Wadsworth Fahey, Sean Wadsworth, Jordan Bowler, Brittany Bowler and Lexington Bowler) and 5 great grandchildren (Kierston Wadsworth, Madison Frongello, Tommy Fahey, Noah Wadsworth and Katheryn Fahey). Jane was preceded in death by her husband, C. B., dau. Carolyn Beth Jennings, 1 bro; Harry McIntyre and 2 sisters; Orma Jackson and Sylvia Doty. A memorial service and burial will be held in Groton, NY on June 14, 2014.
