Theodore "Ted" Carl Smith, 61, of Spotsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Thursday December 29, 2016 in Mechanicsville, VA. Ted was born on January 30, 1955 to the late Grover Horace and Nancy Virginia (Holland) Smith in Wilson, NC. He married Bettie Jean Taylor on April 7, 1979 in Henrico County, VA. Ted enjoyed golf, Redskin football and music, being a drummer, himself. He was employed as a field supervisor for Exceptional Choices flooring company for the past 11 years. Survivors include: his wife Bettie; son, Dustin; daughter, Jessica Smith (Travis Cotton); two brothers; Horace Smith (Lynn), Fred Smith (Susan); two sisters; Linda Boyette (George), Carlies Little and grandson Levi Smith. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sondra "Sandy" Turner. Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Kenneth Thrasher officiating. Family will receive friends for one hour prior.
