Thomas Daniel Keane, 82, of Fredericksburg, left this world on December 2, 2015 to join his beloved wife, Bernadette Marie Keane, in the hands of the Lord. Bernadette preceded him in death, on March 18, 2006.
Thomas leaves behind a loving family to include a son Michael Warren Keane, a daughter Jennifer Lyn Keane-Seay, and a grandson Sean Thomas Fujie Seay.
Thomas, born on February 24, 1933, was the first of his family to be born in the United States. His parents immigrated from Ireland, settling in New York, shortly before his birth. He grew up in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY. He served in the Korean War as a US Army Airborne Ranger with the 187th ARCT, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class, and served as a jump instructor in Kentucky.
Following his service in the Army, Thomas worked as a private investigator and security guard in New York, where he met his wife, Bernadette. Shortly after marriage, they relocated to Northern Virginia. Thomas worked in the communications industry and Bernadette worked for GSA and then NASA. Following retirement, Thomas and Bernadette moved to Locust Grove, VA.
Visitation will be held Monday December 7, 2015 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday December 9, 2015 at St Patrick Catholic Church, Fredericksburg at 10 a.m. with Father Kevin Fimian officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, with Military Honors.
