Vernon Clinton Bookout, 93, of Fredericksburg passed away Wed. Oct. 29, 2013 in Gathersburg, MD.
Vernon was born on Sept. 26, 1920 in Kings Mountain, NC to Cleo and Noonie Jane (McDaniel) Bookout.
He is a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army, from Dec. 1942 to Oct. 1945.
Vernon married Catherine Jenkins on Dec. 24, 1949 at York, SC.
They moved to Virginia, where Vernon worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1655 of Fredericksburg.
Survivors include: 1 son, Steve (Carolyn) Bookout; 2 daughters; Frances (William R.) Britton, Sue (Rick) Shepard; 7 grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, 1 son, Ronald Gardner; and a grandson Patrick Scott Bookout; 1 brother; Douglas Bookout and 5 sisters; Eloise Derring, Flora Yarbro, Jeanette Dixon, Martha Williams and Joyce Bohanan.
